have found that the outer tepals of D. iridoides are clear while those of D.
grandiflora have black markings on the claw. In >California, almost all
of the white Dietes are D. grandiflora, although they are sold under a variety
of names such as D. iridoides >(which they are not) or D. vegata (which is
not an accepted name). David, Here is another photo of the
flower. As mentioned, it stays open three days and closes on the
fourth. I am hoping the plants survive tonight. As of 8:20 PM
Eastern Time, the temperature here had dropped to 29Â F. They are
