Re: raising seedlings faster

Pods are usually ripe in July here, so putting them fresh in the fridge
right away usually gives some germination in November, most in
December/January.

Those that are big enough will (hopefully) go in the ground in
March/April (before TB bloom season really gets going) or during bloom
season if fertility is off (rain, late freeze, hail, rampaging elephants).

Those will usually be big enough to bloom that fall, if they are so
inclined. So a little over 12 months pod to possible bloom.

It gets so hot and dry by the time bloom season is over in the spring, I
rarely try to plant then - too many losses. So the rest go in the
ground in the fall. The fall planted ones usually aren't mature enough
to bloom the following spring - some will, but most won't.

In the past, with a lot of seeds, I have potted them all as soon as any
start to sprout - leaves me with a lot of ungerminated seeds that I
cycle in and outdoors, potting up any new sprouts that show up. A lot
of trouble moving a lot of small pots. I'm only potting as they sprout
this winter, - so far, two crosses are done or nearly so, the rest have
about a third of seeds still to go. 6 months and counting.....
