Hi Anita,
I've only grown this clone if Iris recticulata in zone 9. I'm growing it in a container with well-drained soil. The climate of Azerbaijan (AzerbaÃdjan) seems to be quite variable. The east is dominated by the Caspian Sea which moderates the climate considerably, but if this plant was collected at a high elevation it's home could be quite cold. Alan McMurtrie in Toronto, http://reticulatas.com/, hybridizes Iris recticulata and its relatives, so many of them do well in cold climates.
