unexpected winter iris [1 Attachment]

On Friday, a friend and I were walking around the reservoir in
Lafayette, CA. I was very surprised to see an Iris unguicularis (a
Mediterranean native) growing next to the paved trail. I only expected
to see wild plants. I. unguicularis not an invasive species here so I
assume someone planted it. Photo attached.
