Subject: [iris-species] Randolph at Cornell
"I can say definitively that Cornell has nothing left of Randolph's collection. I live in Ithaca and work at Cornell, and I've asked around. Even the few people who remember him are passing by now. He's remembered here as kind of an iris snob who wouldn't talk to you if he thought you didn't know as much as he did." --Ken Walkup Thank you, Ken, for asking around. As to Dr.
Randolph giving that impression--I am surprised. When I approached him
asking about some species materials back in the early 1960's I found him most
hospitable and helpful. He sent me a number of species items of the sort I
asked about. I only wish I still had them. I may have been fortunate
to approach him under the right circumstances and at the right
time.
