Ellen I am not sure what you just said. My complaint with the other system that was promoted some years back was that the list of collections was not public and that it seemed to me that the person organizing it was just looking for plants to offer in his nursery.

Robert et al,
I assumed that the private collections would be akin to a
volunteer 'project' and, of course, all the lists would be
public. Wasn't that the impetus? To have a readily identifiable
data base of iris species grown in at least three private
gardens (or public gardens ?) in the U.S. or Canada?
Robert - are you (or whoever) planning on including the species
crosses that so many of us grow... like 'Holden's Child' or
'Enfante Prodige' ?
Dennis Kramb's plant finder web site is too good to pass up...
and the youth of Dennis is a huge plus to shepherd the data
base.
Ellen - already thinking of iris species I have to get (the 40
c. Sibs that I don't have and the dwarf species that I don't
grow)
