We traveled over southern regions of European Russia: Voronezh,
Volgograd(Stalingrad), Belgorod, Lipetsk. My main goal was to find a
supposed Iris scariosa in a specific site where it was found 70 years
before. Last year I had first unsuccessful take, unfortunately this time
gave no result too. But I saw a lot of pumilas in bloom. I hope I could make
a small article for SIGNA. Interesting result was to meet Iris
arenaria/pineticola. Last year I didn't found it. This time I did, plus two
sites uncnown before - a great result for this species almost extinct here.
We met a lot of Iris aphylla, one time side by side with Iris pineticola.
Certainly they was not blooming.

Enclosed photo (pumila2) shows interesting pumila with brown spot not only
on the fall but on the standards too.
