blue-eyed grass, & more

Today while waiting for 1.5hrs to get my car fixed, I decided to hike along
the country roads where the repair shop is located. And boy did I have
fun! I found lots of wild flowers (native & otherwise) that I had only
ever seen before in books and/or internet.

My favorite was blue-eyed grass. There was a small patch of it with just a
couple blooms left, but loaded with ripening seed pods. I found one pod
that had black spots inside (presumably ripe seeds) and brought it home to
plant them in my garden. I also saw native Geum (avens), Ruellia (wild
petunia), Solanum (horse-nettle), Dianthus (pink), Apocynum (dogbane),
Calystegia (bindweed), and a couple unrecognizable Asclepias (milkweeds)
not quite yet in bloom.

What a great way to spend time waiting for car repairs!
