Iris tridentata

I'm pleased to report that after numerous failures I've finally been
able to germinate Iris tridentata. My trick was to plant the seeds
in pots in the pond. The pots were situated so that the seeds were
about half an inch above water, with a layer of gravel on top to help
suppress weeds. I used regular seed starter mix from Home Depot as
my "soil".

They were planted last year (spring & summer). A couple days ago I
finally noticed a flush of seedlings have germinated in several of
the pots. Each pot contains tridentata seeds from different sources.
So I am very, very happy about this! In the past I could not keep
Iris tridentata alive for more than 2 years, but I've never tried
them in my pond. Maybe that will be the key to success?
