Hi Dennis,
My name is John. I am a Biologist in New York and have been researching
the different methods of identifying an /Iris versicolor/ vs. the /Iris
virginica/ L. var. /shrevi. /I came across an Iris (see attached pic)
that was about 2’ in height from ground to flower, leaves were not
overtopping flower and I believe the sepal blade looks to be oblong,
ovate _not_ ovate to reniform as I believe this is more identifiable to
/Iris versicolor./ I believe this is an /Iris versicolor/ but it seems
to me it could also be a hybrid (/I./X /robusta/). If you have any
information to share that would be great.
Thanks,
John Masiewicz
