Re: [Fwd: Iris]

Hard to tell as flower was nort fully open, and no references for size
of flower, but does look more robusta then versicolour, based on
veining pattern.

Hi Dennis,

My name is John. I am a Biologist in New York and have been
researching

the different methods of identifying an /Iris versicolor/ vs. the /Iris

virginica/ L. var. /shrevi. /I came across an Iris (see attached pic)

that was about 2’ in height from ground to flower, leaves were not

overtopping flower and I believe the sepal blade looks to be oblong,

ovate _not_ ovate to reniform as I believe this is more identifiable to

/Iris versicolor./ I believe this is an /Iris versicolor/ but it seems

to me it could also be a hybrid (/I./X /robusta/). If you have any

information to share that would be great.

Thanks,

John Masiewicz
