Re: Re: identification of purple iris

I have a tendency to agree with the sino-siberian hypothesis. definatly
some chryographes possibilities, but there is enough interspecies
variation as to provide some uncertainty. Seed pod and seed should be
telling.

One other question. How much does it resemble plant seed came from?

The Seattle owner reports:

It was in bloom two weeks ago, but as he grows no Siberian iris, he

can't compare with its bloomtime. However, I had Siberians in flower

two weeks ago in Victoria, which is fairly near Seattle.

The plant is 21 inches (or 53 cm) tall to the top of the seed pod.

The foliage is about 19 inches (48 cm) in height.

He will photograph the whole plant and the seed capsule, and take a

look at the roots.
