Yes, that does help.
I assume the photo of three pots is cristata in both of the small pots,
verna in the bigger pot in the middle?
Based on your photos & descriptions, it probably is cristata.
Assuming the plants in your photos are at about the same stage of
growth, it does look like verna foliage does stay erect thru the growing
season & maintains a more linear look.
The one trait of this clump that was similar to what you describe for
verna was the absence of rhizomes at the surface, but they didn't look
nearly as deeply buried as the one in your photo.
