SIGNA gladiolus seed error

I was delighted to receive seed from the SIGNA 2010 seed exchange of 10XX335 Gladiolus papilio 'Ruby' . The subtly coloured usual form of papilio grows vigorously for me, so I was looking forward to a brighter version.

Well, it has just flowered. Pretty - one of those pinky-purple Mediterranean glads. Fast growing. Hardy. But not papilio. Someone from the Group for Beardless Iris in the UK donated the seed.

I hope I have better luck with the yellow/purple papilio seed I got from a different exchange. It isn't putting up a flower stalk yet, so that's a good sign.
