Adam Fikso

I just heard via the Pacific Bulb Society that Adam Fikso has died.  Here was the announcement:

Adam, a knowledgeable and frequent contributor to PBS, died earlier this month at the age of 87.
His wife, Annalee, has written us:
As a life-long gardener/grower, he thoroughly enjoyed reading all of your emails, updates, and information presented on this list.

I did a Google search and found some online obituaries too, such as this one:

Fikso, Adam Age 87, died Sunday, June 5th, in Niles, IL. He was born on December 1, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA and grew up in Berkley, CA. Adam enlisted in the military in 1942. After his discharge in 1946 he moved to New York City, attended the City College of New York, and received an MA degree in 1954. He then moved to Chicago, and was employed as a psychologist at Chicago Reed Mental Health Center. He received his Ph.D. in 1970 from IIT. After 39 years at Chicago Reed, he retired in 1989. After retirement Adam renewed his life-long gardening interests and belonged to several gardening societies. He also enjoyed collecting antique glass. Adam is survived by his wife, Annalee, her children Holly and John, his children Cindy and Althea, and grandchildren Ben and Sarah. A private memorial will be held in his honor.

I know that he loved irises, including species, and arils & arilbreds in particular.  So I thought I'd share the news with everyone here.
