Re: Iris in Michigan


 

Here is a photo of Dorathea K Williamson. Also very zig-zaggy stems.

DKW has been widely distributed, and shows up all over the place. Grows
easily. And vigorous, so survives cold climates such as Michigan.

On the other hand brevicalis has limited distribution. And I suspect
hasn't as good survival traits. so less likely to show up in odd places
in a cold climate garden.

if the stems are heavily zig-zagged then i'd go with brevicaulis.
