Today the first flower opened on my clump of Iris tridentata. What a great way to celebrate the first day of summer! My clump is very mature now, so I'm expecting lots of bloom stalks. And that means lots of flowers to pollinate! I'm going to try for as many Spec-X as I can. I have a freezer full of pollen to keep me busy, too. I'm sure some of the potential crosses are ludicrous, like Spuria, but I'm going to try everything anyway. That article about the Sibdentatas really has me excited about the possibilities. Dennis in Cincinnati (where the earliest seed pods are finally starting to fade to light green...soon to be tan... then brown... yay!) |
