Hello all,

I tried to reply to this before but was on a different computer and away from home so I apologise for coming in late to this.

Do have a look on the web at the brown marmorated stink bug - it is an invasive species from Asia and appears to be doing damge on various crops in the States.
Thre are several websites - http://ento.psu.edu/extension/factsheets/brown-marmorated-stink-bug
and   http://www.epa.gov/pesticides/controlling/stinkbugs/

are only two of them. There are also many images on the web. Some give thw size so that might be useful also.

I've not had any of these on any of my irises in England - the stink bugs, or as we refer to them as shield bugs here, either tend to be those on roses, or harmless ones in the woods and garden as far as my garden is concerned. I'm in the south of England at the moment but shall be moving to the north so will see what new creatures that brings.

I hope that helps a bit and hope you don't need to worry.

Kind regards,
Ricki in England

No, I'm not seeing damage yet.  But I don't remember seeing these guys before, and they're kinda everywhere now.  They really seem to favor the tetra-versata irises for some reason.  I'm worried they might damage the developing seed pods (by laying eggs or something).
