Dear Dennis,
Not being a scientific person myself, I am curious as to whether seedling
size will affect the ploidy conversion of the seedlings. That is to
say, and how you will know wether you will achieve 100% conversion.

With 15 seeds out of 30 germinated I decided it was time to subject my Iris
tectorum seedlings to their first Oryzalin bath. The ultimate goal is to
create a tetraploid Iris tectorum to hybridize with TBs. With
the variation in seedling sizes I might succeed with converting a few.
Oryzalin, unlike colchicine. shouldn't kill any of them.My technique may cause the scientists of this group to cringe, but this is how I decided to try it. The proper way is with test tubes & agar & carefully measured solutions. That intimidated me so I went with this... I promised Rodney an article in a year or two... but for now I'll post a
random pic or two as things progress.
