Re: FW: SIGNA website -- question about my iris

Hi Ellen,

I like your pictures, but I can't ID them. They may be Louisianas which I don't usually grow.

Subject: SIGNA website -- question about my iris

Dear KRW â

I must have planted this iris in my always-wet section of garden, but I donât remember ever seeing it before.  Iâm not sure whether it was just hidden in the dread big grass (now mostly gone), was not old enough to flower, or what.  Anyway, I think itâs wonderfulâ  When it first comes out it is reddish, and then a bit more purple, but less so than the picture makes one think.  Fully open, it is a little more than nine inches across. The leaves are about 4 ft tall, the flowers flat.

I wonder if it is Iris nelsonii.

thanks
