Re: Iris tridentata

In a good year, I've had at least one iris bloom from the end of May until freeze up in October.  My rebloomers must need to be moved as they haven't carried the season these last few years.
Today, I still have about 100 bearded iris blooming, along with various siberians, versicolors and a couple species-X (Aly Oops and Wooly Bully).  Several species spuria halophila are also blooming, with their larger cousins about to set buds.  And a couple pseudacorus.

Not me, but I did have two  arilbreds bloom today.   Still, the spurias are almost finished and there are only a couple of tall bearded in bloom.  Still I am amazed they have made it this long.

The pace of Iris blooming really slows down in my garden in mid-June.  Yesterday I had only 1 flower and it was on Iris tetra-versata.  Today that's gone, but a new bloom appeared on I. tridentata (the first of the season) and that species should should carry me through until July.  I wonder how many other Iris growers have non-stop iris blooms from March to July.   :-)

My patch of tridentata is large and should produce dozens of flowers on which I plan to try pollen from prismatica, PCNs, foetidissima, versicolor, and Siberians.  I tried the same crosses last year and got no results, but it never hurts to try again.
