The exact nature of 'Murrayana' is not yet resolved, but it appears to be an aneuploid versicolor or perhaps a hybrid with virginica. The chromosome number is 2n=80, instead of 108 as with versicolor. White versicolor is hard to achieve genetically because the species is essentially hexaploid, with three sets of chromosomes for pigment (and everything else) instead of one.
