For all interested in interspecies crosses the book "Introgressive Hybidization" by Edgar Anderson is highly recommended. About interspecies crosses with a lot on information on louisiana iris and versicolor and virginica. What to expect and why and what to do with them to increase or decrease variability in off spring.
Originally published in 1949 and reproduced by Hafner Publishing in 1968. 
Extremly relevent information for anyone doing cross species work.
