Re: another long wait

Ken,
I have another germination question, about minutoaurea.  I had a recent exchange of email with Darrell Probst about chinenses germination; he said that he really hasn't tried very hard to germinate these species, in general.  One seed lot of odaesanensis, sown fresh, germinated the next spring & grew normally.  A seed lot of I henryi treated the same way germinated in fall & the plants were too small to overwinter (in MA).  I had one seedling each of odaesanensis and koreana germinate last fall, after sowing them from dried seeds last spring.  (They are growing in a cool room now).  What was your experience?

I have been trying to grow and flower Iris minutoaurea
for many years. Today I spotted a bit of yellow in the
pot of a plant I bought 5 years ago. I looked closely and
while it had been eaten a little by something, it is a flower!
I got out my macro lens and took a picture.

I don't know if it flowered because we had an unusual
spell of hard freezes this winter or because it is now
crowded.
