I have found that Neomarica loves being moved to a roomier pot. For several years my N. caerulea had been in a large pot, apparently happy, only producing 1 or 2 scapes a year, but with flowers almost daily for about a month. Then in April '09, I moved it to a 1'x4' pot, breaking apart some of the rhizomes to make it fit. By July, 5 scapes were in bloom with a max of 14 simultaneous blossoms. But last summer topped that: 13 scapes, over 5' tall; the max of over 30 simultaneous blossoms was acheived twice; most days saw at least half a dozen flowers. The blooming period lasted about a month.
I am doing the same with my N. northiana, but the results aren't in yet. I think the response depends upon the warmth; where I live warmth is equal to insolation, and I don't get that all much sun, but I give them what I can.
