That's what I do with all my Louisianas. Additionally I do the cold/moist stratification. They don't seem too tricky to germinate, but I'll save them for a 2nd winter if germination is low that first winter.

Hooker Nichols gets reliable germination of LA cultivars buy decorking the seeds and potting in regular potting soil. Keep them moist. They should germinate in a month or two.
