bloom 2015 - Iris rosenbachiana [1 Attachment]

Bloom started here last week. Here's the purple form of Iris rosenbachiana from Tovil'-Dora, Tajikistan. This was planted in a protected location up near the house that proved to be too shady, and it slowly declined and stopped flowering.ÂIt has since moved to an open location at the south edge of a silver maple, where it survived two very cold winters and a cool, wet summer. The tree's dense roots presumably help to keep it dry during its summer dormancy - this seems to work really well for juno irises here.
