Dennis,
Sisyrinchium is another one of those 'messy' genera where species are not
well defined or easily differentiated. There's especially not much
variation in the flowers of the US species. Branching, length of the
spathes, color and persistence of dead foliage are a few of the things used
to sort them out.
Yes, all of you, please collect seed from your native Sisy's for the
exchange! If you know the species, that great, but send them even if you
don't!
