If you can confuse them with versicolor, they are shrevii. Generally versicolor has more flowers per stalk--shrevii typically only two, but that's not always true. Versicolor has less yellow in the signal, more white. They are often hard to tell, or maybe some are a natural crosses. I can't find a reference right now, but I think the seed pod on shrevei is longer--really the most significant difference though the yellow signal is also significant. I'll find that seed pod info one day and post it or maybe someone else knows. I've spent considerable time separating them in the past. Shrevei is native in southern Minnesota and versicolor in northern MN.   Joan Cooper
