Iris versicolor vs. virginica (#2 of 2)

Okay, here's the other clone I have. This one screams "virginica!" to me,
too. The foliage tends to be more yellowish than the first clone, and much
to my surprise it has a distinctive midrib. The first clone does not.

I suppose these could be natural hybrids between versicolor and shrevei,
rather than pure species of either type. If that was the case, does anyone
know what the seeds would be like? Obviously I intend to collect seeds to
look for clues about their heritage.

I'll try to go back to Shaker Trace nursery this weekend and get more
pictures of their irises. I'm also going to inspect for midribs! That
midrib has me completely baffled.

PS: Apologies to anyone cringing about my use of "shrevei" and "virginica"
interchangeably.
