From my experiences, your chances of getting viable
seeds from any crossings of bearded and tectorum are
slim. But please don't let that stop you from trying.
Here are two reasons why you should try anyway (see
attached photo). And by the way, I'm NOT SO SURE that
my hybrid ('Flying Dragon') ISN'T from a tetraploid
bearded iris crossed with Iris tectorum, anyway.
And if those two aren't reason enough to try, I'll
tell you I've got two more probable hybrid seedlings
that are one year old. So although the chances are
slim... that shouldn't stop a determined hybridizer.
