Hey Ken, it seems to like about 75% shade and even more in the winter
here. Good drainage but soil is heavy clay amended with organic
compost. This is the first time it has had a light hardwood mulch, it
likes that also. Dumb luck on my part as it should not even be hardy
here. Obviously wants to be evergreen but the winter knocks it back to
an inch of live foliage.
