Hi Jim,
I grow this Glad as well and have tried the other
species? or at least what goes by another name of these small hardy Glads and
they do look very very similar. They are indeed hardy, however, and come
through our winters which can go down to minus 40 with long stretches in the
minus 30s often with very little snow cover.
I have often wondered if there was any chance of some
hybridizing with some of the less hardy species.

have gotten from dutch bulbs as hardy glads.
I am not 100%
certain of the species name but think I have it correct.
