I tend to mark my field gear with bright red or pink colors for this reason. It's too easy to set something down, and if it's not bright, never find it again. 
Good news is that you did find your tweezers!

Luckily this story has a happy ending.  It took me 30 minutes to track them down & I promptly attached an 18" long bright red ribbon to them.

Losing your only tweezers:  a hybridizers nightmare.  LOL
