good year for seed pods

It's a good year for seed pod production in my garden. My bearded irises are giving me 33% to 50% take rate. Beardless irises are a lot less so far, but their season extends to July so I'm not worried.

Once again I've used some very old pollen (3 years old) that produced pods on several flowers. I'm impressed how long frozen pollen remains viable.

For the first time ever I had slugs pose a problem. They ate the flowers on some SDBs before they even bloomed. That's super annoying to wait 2 years for a bloom and have it eaten the day before it can open!

My patch of Iris tectorum alba is HUGE and in full bloom, so I've been applying aril & arilbred pollen to most of the flowers.

All in all this could be a very productive year.
