Juri,
I have an iris which has almost the same exact pattern of purple at
the base. Mine is a seedling of Iris pallida ('Kupari' white) X Iris
suaveolens var. rubromarginata. I just noticed the other day when I
pulled off a whithered brown leaf, that underneath it has a purple
base of leaf surrounding the rhizome. It looks just like the bottom
picture. However, my seedling differs in that it has some purple
extending up along the margins of the leaves also.
