I am reasonably certain that this is a very dark form
of Iris albertii. Identification from photos is always
dangerous. One of the traits that distinguishes many
I. albertii s is a brown haft area that terminates
rather abruptly at the end of the beard. this does not
have that trait exactly but it is also much darker
purple than many I. albertiis and I do believe the
venation of the haft and the change in color of the
haft and the carriage of the floral parts fit albertii
rather well. It is certainly a form worth propagating
and distributing. I know you are successful with many
Oncocyclus. I albertii comes a little closer to their
culture than to the average bearded iris. I hope that
someday I might be able to trade for a piece of this
clone. Thank you for sharing a photo of this Iris.
