With the exception of Iris albicans, what has happened to all Bearded Irises I have tried to grow is this: They simply do not increase. I have tried a number of Bearded varieties. They eventually bloom out because they initiate no increase.  I wonder if there are some cultural practices that could 'trick' a bearded Iris to increase in Zones 8 and 9 in the Gulf Coast and Florida region? It looks like some Irises could be 'tricked' into increase initiation. Are you all aware of anything that would work?
