I suspect it would need to be potted up and settled into pot. It is a
biological process.

But should work. Thirty days in cool fridge should do it.

for some time, then put it back out. Would that trigger increase as
well as flowering, or would it rot?

You could try removing main fan on a rhizome to see if increases will

grow. but without the epigentic state being set, may not do anything.
