Chuck,
 I wonder if one could take an Iris, place it in the refrigerator for some time, then put it back out. Would that trigger increase as well as flowering, or would it rot?

You could try removing main fan on a rhizome to see if increases will

grow. but without the epigentic state being set, may not do anything.
