Yellow iris

Greetings Everyone,
I am fairly new here.
I was given some yellow iris tuburs the other day and was wondering they have alot of little holes in them. Are they still good? Can I overwinter the tuburs in my basement before putting them out in the spring or should I go head and plant them?
