Thanks Rodney for all the information! Great site on the native iris
species too. "Our's" is not a wild iris but was cultivated in a
commercial tech park in Broomfield Colorado. It reminds me very much
of some of the iris in the old Japanese woodblocks---so I've formed an
image of them being Japanese or perhaps, Siberian (pretty scientific,
eh?). We were able to harvest seeds BUT since we are in the process of
moving (have to sell the house first) we may not be able to plant them
til next fall. How long will the seeds remain viable? We stored them
in a paper bag. They have experienced a mild frost or three. We were
planning on keeping them in a cool but non-freezing garage for the
time being. Any thoughts on this appreciated! Hmmmm.... I don't see
where to attach my pics (resized to 100k) in the post. I have 3 views
for help with ID-ing.
