SV: Evansia species

Title: Meddelelse
Hi Edmundus,
I have for many years been growing I. tectorum outdoor here in Denmark. Keep it dry in the winter (I expect you have a good snowcover).
I have this year had I. japonica in flower for the first time. It is growing fine outdoor without any protection. Dont cut it back it is an evergreen!

Yours sincerely

Hello,
my ask is to persons who are experienced in growing evansias. I have
no earlier grown I.japonica and I.confusa. Of course it can not grow
in our conditions outdoors, but I grow some from seeds indoors in my
framed loggia. In summer I bring containers to the garden and before
winter back. But for me is not clear how I must manage with those
plants in winter time. From other hand I dont know how low winter
temperatures they can bear. Those species have no flowered for me yet,
but I have grown I.tectorum with flowering success. Before several
years I have grown I.milesii in the garden and it wintered under cover
from spruce branch, also it flowered one or two times, but at least
died. Maybe cover was not sufficient. I have no tried to grow
I.tectorum outdoors, but I shall try in future as I have now
sufficient count of seedlings.
I attach three slides showing status of my evansia plants.

Best regards,
Edmundas Kondratas
