I. mandschurica

Brian Mathew The Iris (1981 and as revised 1989) states as follows:

<<I. mandschurica Maxim. A little-known species, obviously related to I. blouddowii.  I have seen only dried material and this shows a plant about 10-15 cm in height with a stout, non-stoloniferous rhizome, thicker than that of I. bloudowii. The leaves are more or less straight and about 8-10 mm wide. The flowers are yellow and also look very similar to those of I. bloudowii as far as  I can tell. It grows in the far east of Russia in the Ussuri region and in Manchuria and possibly Korea. Flowering in the willd is in May but I have no data about its wild habitat.>>

Note to Bob Pries: I'm sure that life in some places in Montana is quite Boring........BUT Walter Marx had his gardens in Boring, OREGON.
