Re: Anchorage, setosa, and Iris Encyclopedia

Dennis,

That amazing I. versicolor is still going strong (5 weeks now!) even after a hard frost. yet there are new buds that seem o.k. It must be a bud builder. O.k., I think the fall cool temperatures lets the flowers bloom longer. but I sent seeds to the SIGNA Seed Exchange today. Just hope they arrive in time, but I had to wait for the green USDA sticker. There is no guarantee  that this iris will do it again, but who knows? I also had some first bloom this year on 2 I. setosa sdlgs. Both plants rebloomed.

WOW!!!  Those are great photos Liselotte!  We have not received snow yet in Ohio, but it will arrive soon.  I don't have any irises blooming at the moment.

I can't understand why your versicolor is doing this.  I've never heard of reblooming versicolor before, but I love it!

Although all perennials were flattened by the heavy, wet snow, the reblooming Iris versicolor stood up again and is still blooming. We also had to  frosts last week!
