Even in Ottawa we see two separate flushes of borer activity. I see the first instar and fourth instar at the same time (early July).

It makes them very difficult to control by non-chemical means. I can catch most of the first 'crop' in the leaves, but, due to the subsequent growth of the iris, the second is much more problematic.
