Hello friends,

I have just received a note informing me of the passing of Elaine Hulbert, a past president of SIGNA and a very well known person in the iris world.  Here is the note in its entirety:

“Dear Mr. Walkup,

                I am writing to inform SIGNA of the death of past president Elaine Perry Hulbert July 15, 2013.  Would you be willing to print a notice of this and let members know?  I am eager to hear from anyone who has recollections of her.  Please include my address.  Thank you.

PS, Members can honor her memory by accosting a stranger and saying, “Let me tell you why I love irises!”

 

I had a brief correspondence with her a few years back and really admired her enthusiasm and willingness to spend a little time writing to me.  I think we’ll probably want to print something in the newsletter about her.
