I went out today and looked at my iris to see what surprizes I might
find. 1st of all, one that opened two days ago, Butter Peacan(sp?) and
one named Triplet, sure do almost look the same. Had to take a closer
look, then I see that BP is brighter in color and their beards are not
the same color, wonder if they are litter mates? Then out on the Great
Iris Wall I found Plum Ripple is blooming, kind of looks like a small
verson of Jesse's Song, which opened it's 2nd flower today and also in
the GIW a JS out there has a stalk coming up. Also see a stalk coming up
on Victora Harmy(got to write these names down, can't spell worth a
cent). Still waiting for some other iris to bloom, ones like Thornbird
should open this week.
Maybe next year I can drive down to the SFV show and see what they have,
see if they are doing as good as the ones out here in the High Desert
that's only 50 miles or so away.
BTW, I think I've come up with a way that I could grow L.A.I.'s out here,
I water my iris via water holding ponds next to and inbetween the beds,
Now I figure I could make their walls a bit higher, fill in about an inch
or so of the bottem and put the L.A.'s in there, as they get filled two
times a week or more, they should love it! Maybe JI's that way too.
Went to pull up the sib's I was sent, they looked like dead weeds,(they
are in my canna bog) and I looked real close and at lest one of them has
tiny new fans starting up, and the roots of another one still looked
alive, so I left them in there.
Well that's it from the High Desert, got to lay down and rest, the long
walk (8 miles round trip) last night has done me in. So ... Catch you all
on the flip side.
