Hi Donald:

I'm personally very happy your heifers are behaving and will allow you time
to attend the iris convention. I predict that you will be hooked and will
start planning for next year while you're still there THIS year.

What to wear?? This has become considerably more complex over the last
couple of years. It used to be jeans in the gardens, office dressy for the
welcome dinner - Sunday dressy for the banquet. But then Colorado offered a
snowstorm and Oklahoma topped that with a tornado, so my advice is to pack
everything you own... anything's possible.

All kidding aside, iris people are the best people in the world and so
everything is appropriate dress. For the garden tours, bring comfortable
shoes and after that, whatever you'd wear in a garden anywhere. For the
various meetings you might want to hose off, but that's about all. And
you're welcome to attend them all....

An iris convention is about flowers, of course - but it's also about people.
And I think iris people are the best people in the world. We're going to
have a fine time.

Kathy Guest in East Aurora, NY - who will be bringing her laptop for On the
Scene reporting... and is toying with the idea of bringing the digital camera
for 'color'. And I wonder when someone will think of having a "convention
cam" set up in a garden..... for that virtual iris convention.
