Re: HYB: ARIL LADY parentage

Ib-Mac came from I. iberica x Macrantha, the latter a TB and the former an
oncocyclus species. CAPITOLA was its most famous offspring (William Mohr x
Ib-Mac) and was used to produce many quarterbreds; it has very potent
pollen.

So some "Mohrs" are really grandchildren of old Willy, via CAPITOLA.

Here are some iris trivia questions instigated by this thread:

Are there any direct descendents of Ib-Mac (TB x Ib-mac) that have "-mohr"
in their names?

Frank Reinelt hybridized CAPITOLA but was better know for his work in what
other group of plants?

The first three to answer one of these questions correctly will be sent
their choice of either Neomarica gracilis or Iris japonica. The first two
to answer both correctly can claim both prizes. All prizes will be sent
postpaid!

Finally a question I am sure Sharon can answer--besides ARIL LADY, what
fertile quarterbreds have been used in further breeding? Are there many of
them?

No prize for that one.
